McElmeel are a family owned business who specialise in the conversion of cars for wheel chair and limited mobility drivers.

In conjunction with InvestNI, Manufacturing Solutions visited the company and after discussion with management and key employees a number of improvements were identified.

These were primarily layout, work station organisation, house-keeping, Bill of Material analysis identifying cost drivers and product design improvements.

A total of twelve days were spent with the company over a period of three months taking them through in-house Lean training, project planning and implementation.

On completion of the project the quantifiable savings were £122,713 over the first year with a projected three year saving of over £500,000.

A further five days consultancy from Manufacturing Solutions has resulted in agreed annualised savings to the company of over £100,000.

This brings to over £800,000 the agreed savings projected over the next three years.
